AudioRoot eSMART ABE

The AudioRoot eSMART ABE is an active battery eliminator for equipment normally powered by a smart battery. The ABE takes the battery's place in the battery connection, while an external DC source connects to its TA4M input. That source can be a suitable mains adapter or an external battery.

The ABE has the compact format of a Li-48neo or Li-49Wh and a standard 5-pin smart battery output. This also allows a larger smart battery to be connected outside the equipment, with the ABE occupying the smaller battery's position.

Smart Battery Emulation

When using a conventional DC supply without SMBus signals, the internal emulator can be enabled. Compatible distributors can then display voltage, current, power and temperature.

Cycle count, capacity and remaining runtime are artificially generated in this emulation mode. They do not represent an actual battery reserve. Disable the emulator when a real SMBus battery is connected using a four-conductor cable.

Compatibility and Connection Cables

AudioRoot confirms the emulator function for the eSMART BG-DH MKII, eSMART BG-DU, eSMART BG-DU-REG and eSMART K-ART. The ABE connects to the smart battery connection of the relevant power system.

An external eSMART lithium-ion battery requires a suitable four-conductor battery cable, such as the eTA4F-OUT-4W. This carries power and SMBus signals from the external battery to the ABE.

The ABE is not compatible with the Aaton Cantar Mini.

Compatible Mains Power Supplies

AudioRoot specifies the PS-15-36W and PS-15-90W as compatible ABE power supplies. Both provide a 15V output with a TA4F connector for the TA4M input.

The supply's available current does not change the ABE's maximum recommended current of 5 A. Select the supply and load within that limit and the requirements of the connected equipment.
