Hawk-Woods DV-SQN Mini DV Stand-Alone Power Adaptor

The Hawk-Woods DV-SQN turns a Sony NP-F battery or a compatible Hawk-Woods DV-F battery into an external power source. It combines an NP-F battery mount with a fixed 45 cm lead terminated in a 4-pin Hirose connector.

The output passes battery voltage directly to the connected equipment. Hawk-Woods specifies approximately 8.4 V with a fully charged battery, falling to around 6 V as it discharges. The DV-SQN therefore does not provide a constant 12 V output. Check that your equipment accepts this voltage range and the corresponding Hirose connection.

Compatibility and Charging

Hawk-Woods identifies the DV-F970, DV-F980 and Sony NP-F battery series as compatible power sources. Compatibility with a recorder or mixer also depends on that device’s accepted input voltage range and connection; a matching connector alone does not establish compatibility.

The DV-MC2 dual-channel charger and DV-MC4 four-channel charger are available separately for charging the batteries. These chargers charge the batteries; the DV-SQN itself is a power adaptor.

Other Versions

• DV-SQNR: a separate version with a regulated 12 V Hirose output.
• DV-SQN2S: two switched Hirose auxiliary connections plus an additional Hirose flying lead regulated to 12 V.
• DV-SQN4S: requires two batteries and provides four regulated 12 V Hirose chassis connections switched in pairs, plus an unregulated flying lead.
