vdB S-QT

The vdB S-QT is a six-section telescopic carbon fibre microphone boom pole extending from 50 to 210 cm. Its collapsed length of 50 cm keeps it compact for transport. Weighing 370 g including the Quick Lock, it is one of the shorter QT models, intended for documentary, news and broadcast work.

Construction and operation

The tubes are made from high-modulus carbon fibre. QT locking collars release or secure the sections with a quarter turn for length adjustment. The polished outer tube provides the handgrip surface, while the extending inner tubes have a matt black, non-reflective finish to reduce light reflections on set.

Removable tip and heel

The included TOP-SC-2 Quick Lock top screw is removable and can remain attached to the microphone suspension. This lets you exchange a prepared suspension without repeatedly unscrewing the tip from it. The S-QT is supplied with the standard 6-101 heel.

Choice of internal cabling

The standard pole does not include an internal cable. Separate mono and stereo cable kits are available with straight or angled outlets. The choice depends on your microphone setup and preferred connection at the base. The matching optional internal coiled cable kit is the S-CA, available separately.

Maintenance

The pole can be dismantled without tools. Tubes and locking components can be replaced individually, allowing a damaged part to be renewed without replacing the entire boom pole.
