Schoeps KA 40

Schoeps KA 40 [169001]
The Schoeps KA 40 is an acoustic sphere attachment for omnidirectional microphones. It slides onto the microphone and modifies both the frequency response and directivity. This can make the sound source appear closer, which is useful when recording choirs and orchestras.
Main Features
- Increases directivity between 1 and 4 kHz.
- Raises the midrange response while preserving low-frequency response.
- Recommended by Schoeps for Decca Tree recording.
Specifications
- Diameter: 40 mm.
- Finish: matte gray.
- Mounting: slides onto the microphone.
Compatibility
- Schoeps MK 2, MK 2H and MK 2S.
- Schoeps CCM 2, CCM 2H and CCM 2S.
Use
Install the sphere by pushing and turning simultaneously. In a Decca Tree setup, the increased directivity adds level differences to the arrival-time differences between the microphones.
Included
- 1 × Schoeps KA 40 sphere attachment.
Microphone and capsule are not included.
