Schoeps MK 4V [131103]

The Schoeps MK 4V [131103] is a cardioid microphone capsule from the Colette series with a side-address (vertical) pickup axis. This “V” version is intended for setups where the capsule axis needs to run along the side, for example when mounting constraints or a fixed amplifier orientation limit how the microphone can be rotated.

Thanks to its acoustically transparent housing, the directional response remains well controlled even at higher frequencies. As a result, off-axis sound exhibits less high-frequency emphasis than with many small, axial-response cardioids. Overall the MK 4V still sounds somewhat brighter than the MK 4 due to its frequency response. A slight emphasis around 10 kHz can help improve speech intelligibility.
