The Schoeps PAD 20 C is a passive attenuator for the modular Colette system. It fits between the MK capsule and the CMC microphone amplifier, reducing the capsule’s electrical signal by approximately 20 dB before it reaches the amplifier.

This is useful at very high sound pressure levels when the microphone amplifier is the limiting factor. The maximum sound pressure level the system can handle then increases by approximately 20 dB. The PAD can also be fitted between the capsule and an active Colette accessory.

Other attenuation option

If approximately 10 dB of attenuation is sufficient, choose the PAD 10 C [133107]. Two PAD 10 C elements provide approximately 15 dB together; use this PAD 20 C when approximately 20 dB is required.

The PAD 20 C was previously called DZC 20. Schoeps changed the product name in 2025.
