The Schoeps CCM 22 L is a compact condenser microphone with an open cardioid polar pattern. The capsule and microphone amplifier are integrated into one housing. The L version has a detachable cable with a Lemo connection.

Open cardioid for spot pickup

The CCM 22 L combines slightly broader coverage than a conventional cardioid with attenuation of sound arriving from the rear. Its polar pattern lies between those of the CCM 4 and CCM 21 and remains consistent across a broad frequency range.

This tuning suits spot pickup of individual instruments and instrument groups. Compared with the CCM 4, its bass response is somewhat more pronounced and its proximity effect is less strong. At close distances, placement still affects the amount of bass.
