The Schoeps BLM 03 C Matched Pair consists of two matched miniature boundary layer microphone capsules for the modular Colette system, including a matching certificate. Each capsule connects to a separate CMC microphone amplifier through its own fixed 5 m cable. Two amplifiers are required to operate the pair and are sold separately.

The capsules pick up sound from the half-space above their mounting surface. Their low-profile housings, 80 mm diameter and matte gray Nextel finish allow unobtrusive placement on conference tables, on altars and inside grand pianos. The matched pair can be used for stereo grand piano recordings or room recording.

Placement

Place each capsule on a sufficiently large, sound-reflecting surface. A table may be sufficient for a panel discussion; a larger surface is recommended for most music recordings. Inside a grand piano, the capsules can be mounted beneath the lid and used with the lid open or closed.

Compatibility

Each capsule connects directly to the capsule input of a Colette CMC microphone amplifier, such as the CMC 1 U, CMC 1 L or CMC 6. The CMC 6xt provides extended high-frequency response.

The BLM 03 C contains active electronics and cannot be combined with other active Colette accessories, such as KC cables and RC tubes. Its fixed cable connects directly to the CMC amplifier.
