The Schoeps MK 2XS [131013] is an omnidirectional condenser microphone capsule from the Colette series, designed as a true pressure transducer with diffuse-field equalisation. It is intended for recording at relatively large distances where the diffuse (reverberant) sound field plays a major role.

With diffuse-field equalisation, the overall response remains natural and balanced at greater distances. When used close to the source, the sound can become brighter than with a flat near-field omni because the correction is then not required.
