The Schoeps MK 4VP is a small diaphragm condenser microphone capsule with a cardioid polar pattern, specifically designed for very close speech recording, directly in front of the speaker's mouth. This capsule compensates for low-frequency roll-off due to the proximity effect, resulting in a flat frequency response for the speaker's voice, while sounds from further away are less prominently captured.
