The Schoeps Stereo-Set CMC 6, MK 2S consists of two MK 2S omnidirectional capsules and two CMC 6 U microphone amplifiers. The capsules are matched and supplied with a matching certificate. Both microphones have a balanced XLR output and operate on P12 or P48 phantom power.

The MK 2S has a moderate high-frequency boost that compensates for high-frequency losses as the proportion of reflected sound increases. The set is suitable for A/B stereo in ensemble and orchestral recording and for capturing room acoustics. Placement near the critical distance, where direct sound and the diffuse sound field contribute approximately equal levels, is a common application.
