The Schoeps CCM 4VP L is a compact side-address cardioid condenser microphone designed for speech at distances below 20 cm. The capsule and microphone amplifier are integrated into a single housing. The L version has a detachable cable with a Lemo connection; the included K 5 LU connects the microphone to an XLR microphone input supplying phantom power.

Designed for close speech pickup

With a directional microphone, low frequencies increase as the speaker moves closer. The CCM 4VP L incorporates moderate low-frequency attenuation to compensate for this proximity effect. This makes it suitable for use close to the mouth. At greater distances, the sound becomes thinner; this version is therefore intended for close speech pickup.

The CCM 4VP L is addressed from the side. Its cardioid polar pattern reduces sensitivity to sound arriving from behind the microphone.
