Schoeps Parabol-Set, CMC 1 L, MK 2 [163213]

The Schoeps Parabol-Set, CMC 1 L, MK 2 combines a folding Telinga parabolic reflector with a CMC 1 L microphone amplifier [132012] and an MK 2 omnidirectional capsule [131001]. Applications include directional wildlife recording, sports broadcasting and sound design.

Reflector and Equalization

The reflector increases directionality mainly at medium and high frequencies and also changes the frequency response. Schoeps recommends its free ParabolEQ plugin for correcting the recording. The recommended operating range of the parabolic system is 100 Hz–20 kHz; this is not the frequency range of the MK 2 capsule on its own.

The MK 2 itself is omnidirectional. Directional pickup results from its combination with the reflector. At low frequencies, the system is less directional and captures more low-frequency ambience.
