Schoeps Parabol-Set, CMC 1 L, MK 21 [163212]

The Schoeps Parabol-Set, CMC 1 L, MK 21 combines a folding Telinga parabolic reflector with a CMC 1 L microphone amplifier [132012] and an MK 21 wide cardioid capsule [131003]. Applications include directional wildlife recording, sports broadcasting and sound design.

Reflector and Equalization

The reflector increases directionality mainly at medium and high frequencies and also changes the frequency response. Schoeps recommends its free ParabolEQ plugin for correcting the recording. The recommended operating range of the parabolic system is 100 Hz–20 kHz; this is not the frequency range of the MK 21 capsule on its own.

The MK 21 itself has a wide cardioid pickup pattern. In this set, the combined capsule and reflector determine the overall directionality.
