Schoeps Mono Set KMIT + CMD 42 (blue/nextel gray) [138841]

The Schoeps Mono Set KMIT + CMD 42 combines the KMIT shotgun capsule with the CMD 42 digital microphone amplifier. The capsule signal is converted to digital within the microphone and delivered through AES42. The set includes a microphone clamp, foam windscreen and wooden storage case.

The KMIT combines strong directionality with low coloration of sound arriving from the sides. With the CMD 42, its frequency range extends to 40 kHz, supporting sound-design applications that involve lowering the pitch of recorded material.

Digital Control and Output

The Schoeps Remote App sends settings to the microphone acoustically. The CMD 42 can output processed and unprocessed signals simultaneously, retaining a separate backup signal. Both digital output channels originate from the same capsule; this set does not record stereo using two separate microphone capsules. Mono-to-stereo upmixing is available as a DSP function.

Connection and Compatibility

This set requires an AES42 input with suitable digital microphone powering, or an appropriate AES42 interface or powering unit between the microphone and recording equipment. A conventional analog XLR microphone input with 48 V phantom power is not suitable. An interface or powering unit is not included in this set.

The CMD 42 supports Schoeps MK capsules and Colette accessories. When using another capsule, refer to the acoustic specifications for that combination.

Alternative Version

The Mono Set KMIT + CMC 1 U, article 138801, is the analog version with an XLR3M output and phantom powering. The CMD 42 version provides AES42 connectivity, digital signal processing and the extended recording bandwidth of this combination.
