The Schoeps MK 2 [131001] is a small-diaphragm condenser microphone capsule from the Colette series with a true pressure (omnidirectional) pickup pattern. It is free-field equalised and provides a flat frequency response for frontal sound, which makes it well suited for relatively close placement.
Even though it is an omni, orientation still matters at higher frequencies. The MK 2 has also long been used for measurement tasks thanks to its predictable behaviour.
