The Schoeps MK 4VXP is a side-address cardioid microphone capsule from the Colette series for speech recording at distances below 10 cm. Its pickup axis is perpendicular to the microphone's longitudinal axis.

The strong fixed low-frequency roll-off compensates for proximity effect when used directly in front of the mouth. Low-frequency sound arriving from farther away is therefore reproduced less strongly relative to the speaker. The roll-off is stronger than that of the MK 4VP.
