The Schoeps MK 4XP is a front-address cardioid microphone capsule from the Colette series for speech recording at distances below 10 cm. It is intended for use directly in front of the mouth.

The strong fixed low-frequency roll-off compensates for proximity effect during close pickup. Low-frequency sound arriving from farther away is therefore reproduced less strongly relative to the speaker. The roll-off is stronger than that of the MK 4P.
