The Schoeps MK 4 is a small-diaphragm cardioid condenser microphone capsule for the modular Colette system. Combined with a suitable microphone amplifier, it can be used for speech, vocals, acoustic instruments and ensemble recording.

The capsule combines a flat frequency response with consistent off-axis sound. Sound arriving from the sides is reduced in level with little change in tonal balance. This makes the MK 4 useful as an individual spot microphone and in stereo techniques such as XY and ORTF.
