The Schoeps MK 4 is a small-diaphragm condenser microphone capsule with a cardioid pickup pattern from the Colette series. It is designed as a neutral reference cardioid and is widely used for speech, music and ensemble recording.

The MK 4 combines a flat frequency response with highly consistent off-axis behaviour. This ensures stable tonal balance for sound arriving from outside the main axis, which is essential for both close-miking and more spacious recording setups.
