The Schoeps Desert Island Set MK 22 combines two MK 22 open cardioid capsules with two compact CMC 1 U microphone amplifiers. The capsules are matched and supplied with a matching certificate. The set is stored in a Peli Case 1010 with a fitted insert.

The MK 22's open cardioid polar pattern lies between the cardioid MK 4 and the wide cardioid MK 21. It provides a broader pickup area than a conventional cardioid, with greater attenuation of sound from the rear than the MK 21. The set is suitable as a main microphone pair for ensembles and chamber music, or as individual soloist and spot microphones.
