The Schoeps Desert Island Set MK 5 combines two MK 5 switchable capsules with two compact CMC 1 U microphone amplifiers. The capsules are matched and supplied with a matching certificate. The set is stored in a Peli Case 1010 with a fitted insert.

A mechanical switch on each capsule selects omnidirectional or cardioid operation. In omni mode, the MK 5 operates as a true pressure transducer without proximity effect. In cardioid mode, it provides directional pickup and attenuates sound from the rear. This allows the recording setup to be adapted without changing capsules.

Using the pattern switch

Set the switch fully to either omni or cardioid. Intermediate positions do not provide a defined polar pattern. Use the same setting on both capsules for a symmetrical stereo pair. A microphone stand and stereo bar are not included.
