The Schoeps Desert Island Set MK 21 combines two MK 21 wide cardioid capsules with two compact CMC 1 U microphone amplifiers. The capsules are matched and supplied with a matching certificate. The set is stored in a Peli Case 1010 with a fitted insert.

The MK 21 has a directional pattern between omnidirectional and cardioid. It covers a broad pickup area while attenuating sound from the rear, with little variation in polar pattern across frequency. This makes the set suitable as a main microphone pair for chamber music, choirs and orchestras, or as individual spot microphones.

Use as a stereo pair

One possible starting arrangement is 30 cm spacing between the microphones with an included angle of 90°. Spacing and angle can be adjusted to suit the ensemble width, recording distance and room acoustics. A microphone stand and stereo bar are not included.
