The Schoeps Desert Island Set MK 2S combines two MK 2S omnidirectional capsules with two compact CMC 1 U microphone amplifiers. The capsules are matched and supplied with a matching certificate. The set is stored in a Peli Case 1010 with a fitted insert.

The MK 2S has a moderate high-frequency boost that compensates for high-frequency losses as the proportion of reflected sound increases. The set is suitable for A/B stereo in ensemble and orchestral recording and for capturing room acoustics. Placement near the critical distance, where direct sound and the diffuse sound field contribute approximately equal levels, is a common application.
