The Schoeps Desert Island Set MK 2 combines two MK 2 omnidirectional capsules with two compact CMC 1 U microphone amplifiers. The capsules are matched and supplied with a matching certificate. The set is stored in a Peli Case 1010 with a fitted insert.

The MK 2 has a flat frequency response for sound arriving directly from the front. This free-field equalization makes the capsule suitable for close-miking instruments, where direct sound predominates. Orientation matters even with an omnidirectional capsule, since directivity increases at high frequencies.
